AMEC appoints new President of Earth Environmental


London, United Kingdom (4 October 2010) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, announces that Dr Hisham Mahmoud, has joined as President of its Earth & Environmental business. He has also been appointed to the company's Group Management Team and will be based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

He replaces Roger Jinks, who will be retiring from the company. Mr Jinks has served as President, Earth & Environmental since 2000, overseeing a period of rapid growth during that time.

Dr Mahmoud joins AMEC from URS Corporation and has more than 19 years of experience with URS and its predecessor companies Dames & Moore and Woodward Clyde. Most recently, as East / Midwest Group General Manager, Infrastructure and Environment, he managed around 3,500 employees in some 40 offices in the US and Canada. 

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Qatar and a Master's and a PhD, both in Civil Engineering, from Arizona State University in the United States.

"Hisham will be a valuable addition to AMEC," said Chief Operating Officer Neil Bruce.  "He has a strong record as an effective leader and builder of high-quality teams that will help AMEC achieve its Vision 2015 growth strategy."
