Khalid Farid receives 2011 ECC Lifetime Achievement Award

Phoenix, United States (9 September 2011) "- AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, is pleased to announce that Khalid Farid, Senior Vice President, Strategic Development, has received the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Engineering and Construction Contracting Association (ECC). The award was presented last night at the 43rd Annual ECC Conference held at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge.

The ECC, which consists of owners, contractors, suppliers and academics in the global engineering and construction industry, has been recognizing outstanding industry leaders with the ECC Annual Achievement Award since 1988.

"The ECC is pleased to honor Khalid with our annual Achievement Award," said Mike Lowder, 2011 ECC Conference Chair and Director of Process Engineering for Eastman Chemical Company. "Each year, we recognize a distinguished professional from our industry that has exhibited integrity, bold risk taking and vision, and provided a positive impact on the competitive nature of our business, possessing stature among peers in the industry. Khalid's career is testimony to the values our industry demonstrates as we continue to strive toward better project execution and enhanced relationships between owners, contractors and suppliers."

Farid has more than 45 years of experience in international engineering, and construction and process technology. Throughout his career, he has participated in and led many aspects of the growth of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) industry, which saw broad North American and international growth and advances in both process and execution technology. Currently based in Houston working with AMEC, Farid leverages his wealth of knowledge and experience in strategy and mergers and acquisitions to help the company achieve its ambitions.

Farid has been a career-long member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and participated in the early days of the ECC. He has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from NYU.
