AMEC engineer wins Overall Excellence accolade at Oil Gas UKs 2012 awards

Aberdeen United Kingdom (10 November 2012) - Each year, Oil & Gas UK, the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, celebrates the sector's achievements with a gala awards dinner for industry professionals. At the 2012 event held in Aberdeen recently, AMEC senior mechanical engineer Keith Neish picked up the overall excellence award, which salutes outstanding achievement by a young person aged 30 or under working in the UK oil and gas industry.
Since joining AMEC six years ago as a graduate Keith has worked on key offshore oil and gas projects, overseeing orders for mechanical packages up to £2 million. The award acknowledges his creativity, ingenuity and commitment he shows in tackling technical challenges and negotiating between customers, suppliers and manufacturers. The award also recognises his excellent interpersonal skills in managing his team, and his passion for the industry demonstrated by his involvement with schools and the graduate community. Keith has also designed and rolled out a short course on inherently safe design.

Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK, Malcolm Webb, commented on the extremely high standard of all the entries, which saw a record number of submissions as well as entries of exceptional quality. He said: "I congratulate all the finalists and not just the winners. They can all count themselves as being among the very best of the best."

Keith said, "AMEC has given me the opportunity to work on some major projects in the North Sea and they've let me develop as a person.  It's a great company and a great industry and I'm genuinely passionate to work here."
