AMEC ranked Dow Jones Sustainability Index oil services sector leader for the fourth successive year

London, United Kingdom (18 September 2012) - AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company, has again been ranked the sector leader for sustainability in the oil equipment and services sector of the worldwide Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

This is the fourth year in succession that AMEC has been made sector leader and the ninth without a break that it has featured in the DJSI, which annually surveys and benchmarks the world's 2,500 largest companies measured by free-float market capitalisation.

The assessment for 2012-13 was based on corporate economic, environmental and social performance, taking into account issues such as corporate governance, risk management, climate change mitigation, corporate citizenship and philanthropy, supply chain standards and workforce practices.  Only the top 10 per cent of the best performing organisations are included in the index.

"Once again, our considerable efforts to be a sustainable and responsible company have been rewarded with the top spot in our sector in the DJSI despite tough international competition," said Will Serle, AMEC Group HR Director with management responsibility for sustainability. "Our stakeholders - customers, investors, employees, suppliers and the communities in which we operate "- have high expectations of the way we address economic, social and environmental sustainability. Our commitment to achieve the highest standards for the long term is as strong as ever."
