AMECs Samir Brikho cochairs the second UAEUK CEO Forum

London, United Kingdom (9 May 2012) "- Samir Brikho, Chief Executive Officer of AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, is co-chairing the second meeting of the UAE-UK CEO Forum taking place in London today, 9 May 2012.

Co-chairing the Forum alongside Mr Brikho is Mr H.E. Nasser Ahmed Alsowaidi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.

The UAE-UK CEO Forum was set up in 2011 by the UK and UAE governments and meets twice a year with the aim of increasing trade and investment between the two countries to £12 billion by 2015.  Specifically, the Forum is identifying and recommending actions to remove impediments to greater trade, investment and commercial links between the two countries; exploring ways it can act as a catalyst for greater interest and linkages between the two countries' commercial sectors, respective SMEs and multinational businesses; and proposing innovative areas for collaboration that would benefit both countries economically and commercially in order to deepen the relationship and strengthen the partnership.

"At the inaugural meeting of the Forum in Abu Dhabi in September 2011 we  began to develop strong relationships and build a firm foundation for further trade between our two countries," said Mr Brikho. "Today we will be looking at how we can generate new business opportunities in energy, financial services, defence, education, healthcare and infrastructure and we will also be looking at ways to encourage SMEs to participate in and benefit from increased trade in the regions. Other areas under the spotlight are plans for a leadership development programme and the efforts we can make to work together in other countries. We have a great opportunity here and all the  participants are determined to deliver positive results not only to boost trade by the 2015 target but also sustainably in the long term."
