London calling New offices opened to meet growing customer demand

20/06/2012

AMEC has recently opened new offices in the Farringdon district of central London to accommodate engineers working on major energy contracts.

In all, 27,000 people work for AMEC in 40 countries, and around 1,200 of them are based in the UK capital.

The company has recruited over 600 people for its London oil and gas operations in the last 12 months and is looking to bring in at least a further 400 people in London by the end of the year to help deliver the increasing portfolio of work.  As a result, the company has secured significant engineering office space in Farringdon to add to its other London locations: three oil and gas offices in Old Street, an office in Tavistock Square, which supports the UK nuclear new build programme, and its Environment & Infrastructure office in Islington.

AMEC CEO Samir Brikho said: "We are making a significant investment in recruiting, retaining and developing the best people for AMEC to serve our growing customer base in strong end markets here and abroad.

"Our customers are investing heavily in North Sea developments. Not only are we working on some of the biggest field developments in the North Sea such as BP Clair Ridge and GDF Cygnus, but also we have a strong order book. It is only logical that we expand our presence in London in order to meet our customers' requirements. From our London offices we also provide greenfield and front-end engineering support to our colleagues around the world, especially in the Middle East and Australia, which are major growth regions in our Vision 2015 business strategy."
