AMEC reaffirms its commitment to sustainability in its 2012 sustainability report published today

London, United Kingdom (19 April 2013) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, today (19 April) issued its 2012 sustainability report in which it outlined its undiminished commitment to long term sustainable business.

"Sustainability is integral to the way we do business at AMEC and we are pleased to publish our 2012 report," said AMEC's Head of Sustainability Frances Fay.  "Despite uncertainty in the global economy, AMEC continues to invest in sustainable development and believe in the fundamental values that underpin our commitment to it. These include sustainably delivering excellence to our customers, believing in people, never compromising on safety and acting with integrity.

"The report shows good progress. Over the past 24 months we have listened to investors, clients, other external stakeholders and our employees to ensure that we continue to improve our sustainability programme and better communicate what we are doing."

Highlights in the report include:

"¢ A new measurements and targets section outlining AMEC's long and short term goals and how it is performing against them

"¢ A strong focus on people including the company's approach to employee engagement, its plans for the future and an update on progress in diversity

"¢ Good HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) performance, well above industry norms

"¢ Improved carbon data capture during 2012 with the introduction of new reporting software, which will provide the company with robust data in advance of impending  mandatory reporting regulations

"¢ Continued focus on the company's values and code of business conduct, highlighting the new online ethics training for employees

"¢ Support to local communities through fundraising and time spent in the community

"¢ Project examples showing how the sustainability programme permeates into project delivery.


The report's contents will be explained today to attendees at an AMEC event in London for sustainable and SRI investors, where they will also hear about AMEC's strategy to 2015 and beyond, the company's new organisational structure, and the key business and operational risks and approach to sustainable growth.
